For those Wright enthusiasts who want to learn about the details, design and history behind the Allen House, this tour is for you!

90-minute guided tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Allen House includes all the main rooms, second floor and interior gardens. This is a walking tour, and you must be able to navigate stairs. The garden house is NOT included on this tour (NO interior photography or backpacks allowed).

Have you ever wondered about the history behind the artwork inside the Allen House?  Come experience an in-depth look at examples of Elsie Allen’s art collection.  Elsie was a major art collector and advocate in Wichita.  She owned over 400 pieces of art at the time of her death.  This tour will explore original pieces of art that are exhibited in the home, including Japanese prints, sculptures and fine European paintings.  This tour focus is on the artwork but will also include a “mini-tour” of the home.  Tour length is approx. one hour.  This is a walking tour throughout the home and stairs must be navigated.

9:30 A.M. Downtown History and Architecture Walking Tour

DOWNTOWN HISTORY and ARCHITECTURE WALKING TOUR

Do you know about the infamous Old West gun fighter who spent part of his childhood in Wichita? Or the story of the millionaire who paid to build Wichita’s first public library building, even though he never visited our city? Do you know about the oldest commercial building in Wichita, built in 1874? Hear all of these stories, and much more, on our Downtown History and Architecture Tour!

This is an entirely outdoor walking tour, and it lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours - you will walk about 12 blocks. This tour starts on the Main Street sidewalk, in front of the Wichita Sedgwick County Historical Museum, at 204 S. Main Street.

You will receive an order confirmation by email and will be added to the reservation list upon the completion of your order.  We do not mail out physical tickets.

Tour moves at a leisurely pace with short periods of standing at designated tour stops.  Considerable walking, unpaved areas, uneven sidewalks, brick streets and cross traffic can be expected.

BELMONT PLACE: BETWEEN THE ARCHES WALKING TOUR

On this entirely outdoor walking tour you will see many beautiful houses and mansions, including the homes of Walter & Olive Ann Beech (founders of Beech Aircraft Corporation), and William Coleman (the founder of the Coleman Company) as well as Al Derby (the owner of Derby Oil) and Jack Vickers (the owner of Vickers Petroleum Company) along with many others.  In the 1920s and 1930s, Belmont Place was Wichita's most affluent neighborhood, and home to our city's movers and shakers.  This tour will show you where they lived, share some of the details of their exciting lives, and explain how they shaped the development of our city.

This walking tour lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours, and you will walk about eight blocks.  This tour will begin next to the Belmont Arch at E. Douglas & N. Belmont Place (NOT ALLEN HOUSE). Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that you do NOT take photos of these personal residences.  These are private homes, and still being lived in, and we are sure you understand that we must respect their privacy.

10:00 A.M. Historic 1927 Hillcrest Apartment Building Tour

Towering over College Hill, The Hillcrest was built a century ago to the upper-class standards of a bygone age.  This well preserved, historic building has its own parking garage, with valet parking, provides its residents with a 24-hour front desk concierge, and boasts one of the few remaining manually operated elevators in Kansas.  The inside of this historic gem is rarely seen by any but its residents and their guests, but we've arranged an opportunity for this special tour.

12:00 PM-Corbin ONLY Tour

CORBIN ONLY TOUR

This tour is for guests who have already toured the Allen House and are wanting to ONLY tour the Corbin Education Center, formally known as the Juvenile Cultural Center, located on the campus of Wichita State University. The tour will begin at 12:00 pm AT Corbin and will last approximately one hour.

You will learn about the details, design and history behind the Corbin Education Center, designed in 1957 and dedicated in 1964.  This 60-minute tour of the site will include exterior spaces, courtyard space, Dean’s Suite, public spaces, classrooms, second floor and esplanade.  This is a walking tour, and you must be able to navigate stairs.
